KEARNEY, Neb. (KGFW) – The Kearney Public Schools Board received the district’s preliminary budget request at last night’s meeting.
At just under $79.5 million, there’s a 2.43% increase in the General Fund with an overall budget decrease of 1.44%.
KPS is expecting its first increase in State Aid in 6 years, up 2.81%. However, the nearly $7 million is still more than half what KPS received in FY2010-2011.
Board President Alex Straatmann says he expects the total property tax levy asking to remain the same – $1.22 per $100 of valuation.
