The UNK volleyball team has move up one spot, to 2nd in the latest AVCA Division II Top 25 Poll. At 20-0 on the season, the Lopers are one of only two undefeated teams in the nation. The other is the top team in the rankings, Cal State San Bernadino. Ten teams from the Central Region are ranked in the Top 14 this week; Washburn is tied with Northern State for 3rd, Minnesota-Duluth is 5th, Concordia-St. Paul is 7th, Wayne State is 8th, Central Missouri is 10th, Southwest Minnesota State is in at No. 11, St. Cloud State is 13th, Northwest Missouri State is 14th, Winona State is 17th, and Upper Iowa is 21st. The Lopers host Emporia State tonight, first serve is at 6:00.
One other Loper volleyball note; Julianna Jackson has been named the MIAA Hitter of the Week for the second time this season.
The UNK football team received three votes in this week’s American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Top 25 poll. This is the first time the program has received votes in this poll since it began 2012 ranked 28th. The Lopers upset 7th ranked Northwest Missouri State, 24-17, Saturday. That was the program’s first-ever win over an NCAA Division II Top 10 team. The Lopers travel to Fort Hays State this Saturday.
