KGFW Sports – NU Women and Lopers Win, 6 Husker Greats and High School Update 01/10/20

The Nebraska womens basketball team toppled the Wisconsin Badgers, 65-50, last night at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Now 13-2 on the season and 3-1 in the Big Ten, the Husker women are at Rutgers Sunday. The Huskers and Scarlet Knights will tipoff at 1:00.

The Husker men travel to Evanston tomorrow for a game against Illinois. The Huskers and Fighting Illini tipoff at 3:30.

ESPN has revealed a partial list (#26-#150) of the greatest players in college football’s 150-year history. That list includes six Huskers; Johnny Rodgers (#39), Dave Rimington (#48), Ndamukong Suh (#63), Mike Rozier (#68), Tommy Frazier (#97) and Rich Glover (#112). The UNK basketball teams topped MIAA newcomer Rogers State last night in Claremore, Oklahoma. The men defeated the Hillcats, 62-58, the women by a score of 79-47. The Lopers continue in Oklahoma this weekend with games against Northeastern State Saturday in Tahlequah. The women will tipoff at 1:30, the men will follow at 3:30.

The 4th-ranked UNK wrestling team is the 6th seed at the this weekends National Wrestling Coaches Association Multi-Divisional National Duals in Louisville, Kentucky. The Lopers take on the Bellarmine (Ky.) Knights in the first round this morning at 10:00. The Lopers won this event back in 2003 and 2007.

UNK football fans can help the Lopers helmet come out on top in the Helmet Bowl III National Championships. The Lopers are facing the Louisville Cardinal in the finals. Fans can enter their vote at www.helmettracker.com. The winner will be revealed Monday afternoon in conjunction with the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) national convention in Nashville.

The Tri-City Storm will try to extend their five game winning streak this weekend, hosting the Waterloo Blackhawks at the Viaero Center. The puck drops tonight, and tomorrow night at 7:05.
