Kearney Catholic will be joining the Centenial Conference a year earlier than planned.
Principal Terry Torson has sent a letter to officials with the LouPlatte Conference informing them of the school's decision. The Stars were set to become active members of the Centenial Conference next season in some athletic and fine art activities, and begin divisional play in 2018-19. In the letter, Torson said although the Lou Platte Conference had granted us an additional year to move the to Centenial Conference, we were able to rearrange our schedules so that we are able to make the transition a year early. While we have not been able to totally fill our regular season schedule we will participate in all of the tournaments and activities that the Centennial Conference has in place. The Stars — who have been members of the LouPlatte since the late 1980s — were kicked out of the Conference by an 8-2 vote last year.
