Kearney MAGIC!

Westfield, Ind (KGFW) - There is magic in the air.

It surrounds the Kearney Little League team like a blanket, or maybe a shield.

The team lost a heartbreaking game 4-2 on Monday the 7th to Webb City Missori. That put them in the "loser" bracket and a dogfight for the rest of the way.

Fight they did.

On Wednesday the 9th the Kearney team entered the top of the 6th up 5-3 against Kansas. Kansas refused to go away after Cooper Hamblin hit a 2 run home run to tie things up at 5.

Enter Kearney.

Ty Redinger standing on 2nd base with 1 out just waiting to be brought home. Reese Bober standing at the plate.

A chopped ball up the middle and an easy play for the 2nd basemen but at least Bober moved the runner up to 3rd.

Enter the magic.

The throw to first sails over the first basemens head and Redinger scampers home. Kearney wins in a walk off 6-5.

They face Iowa and much of the same.

Kearney pitcher Brayden Andersen put together an impressive 5 2/3's performance behind 14 strikeouts to enter the top of the 6th with a 2-0 lead.

In the frame Kearney would give up 5 runs to Iowa who seemed to be looking for revenge for losing to Kearney on the first day of the tournament.

Enter Kearney

Iowa would walk the bases full with 1 out as Brayden Andersen walked to the plate. Andersen on the day already had 1 solo home run and was looking to win it on one swing of the bat. Kearney was down 5-3.

Enter the magic.

A sharp crack of the bat later and Andersen is standing on third with the score tied at 5-5. Bober had been gunned down trying to score all the way from first.

Brooks Paul is a name to remember this season.

Paul comes up with a runner on third and two outs. He rips a single past the outstretched glove of the Iowa 2nd baseman to bring home Andersen and the 2nd walkoff win in as many days.

Now Kearney faces Webb City, MO who handed them the loss earlier in the tournament.

First pitch is August 11th at 10am Central.

Dont miss the Magic.
