OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – A 43-year-old man accused of killing a convicted sex offender in Omaha has been charged with first-degree murder. James Fairbanks was charged Thursday in the death of 64-year-old Mattieo Condoluci.
Officers found Condoluci’s body Saturday after responding to a shooting.
Authorities have said that Fairbanks wrote an anonymous email to Omaha news outlets claiming responsibility for Condoluci’s death. The email writer said he shot Condoluci after learning he was a sex offender.
Condoluci was on the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry, which listed offenses from Florida and Nebraska. Fairbanks was ordered held without bond.
