Go Big GIVE Goal Breaking Year Raising $1,007,671

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – The following is from the Heartland United Way:

“The Heartland United Way and Greater Grand Island Community Foundation hosted the 7th annual Go Big GIVE event on Tuesday, July 7th breaking their one million dollar goal by raising over $1,007,671 with 5025 donations for 137 local nonprofits in Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick Counties!

Go Big GIVE was postponed from the original May 7th date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonprofit organizations have been busy supporting relief and response efforts and have felt the impact of the increased demand for services with often decreased resources. It was encouraging (but not surprising) that our communities supported the nonprofits in a big way with their generous giving today.

Go Big GIVE is a 24-hour online giving event that enables everyone to be a philanthropist by visiting GoBigGIVE.org and making a gift to multiple nonprofits. Gifts to Go Big GIVE grew with match-pool funds and incentive prizes that were generously provided by sponsors for the day of giving.

Additional goals for the one day giving event were to: help increase the visibility for local organizations; increase use of social media; attract new donors through the use of an online giving platform; and to educate and engage more people to be involved in supporting nonprofits year-round.

The Heartland United Way and Greater Grand Island Community Foundation wish to express their deep gratitude to the generous sponsors and donors for their incredible support for Go Big GIVE and the 137 participating nonprofit organizations.”
