COVID-19 Update 7/9/20: GIPS unveils back to school plan

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KGFW) – Grand Island Public Schools plans to teach most students in-person this Fall. KSNB Local 4 News reports the District unveiled three models yesterday. One has most students in classes. A second provides for in-person instruction for select programs. And the third is remote learning. Which model the district uses will depend on the current pandemic situation. Under the least restrictive model, daily temperature checks and face masks would be required.

224 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Nebraska yesterday – the state’s total now 20,425. More than 15,000 have already recovered. There were 97 active coronavirus patients in Nebraska hospitals yesterday, according to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, the first time daily hospitalizations have dropped below 100 since the metric has been reported. The state’s COVID-19 death count remained the same, at 282.
