(KGFW) – Former Husker Offensive lineman Nick Gates has signed a two year contract extension with the New York Giants. Gates, who is projected to start at center or tackle for the Giants, inked a deal worth an additional 6.8 million with the possibility of 10.3 million with bonuses.

Nebraska is picked 4th in the Big Ten West according to the annual Cleveland.com conference media football poll. Wisconsin is picked to win the West. Ohio State is picked to win the East along with the Big Ten Championship.

The NAIA will postpone its football championship to next spring. Officials say the decision provides flexibility for conferences and institutions to account for regional differences. The G-PAC, which Hastings College is a member of, plans to complete a fall conference schedule.

Seniors Denzel Mahoney and Damien Jefferson will withdraw from the NBA draft process and return to Creighton. Their return means the Jays, who shared the Big East regular-season title and finished No. 7 in the AP Top 25 poll before last season was canceled, will bring back six of their top eight scorers from the 2019-20 team.
