Update: LPD tweeted at 1:43 p.m. that all suspects have been caught. None were injured by gunfire. The officer is in critical condition.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KGFW) – A manhunt is underway in Lincoln, Nebraska after a police officer was shot early this afternoon.
The Lincoln Police Department tweeted shortly after 1 p.m. that the officer was attempting to arrest a 17-year-old in connection with a March homicide.
Our sister station, KLIN reports the shooting occurred near 33rd and Vine.
Felipe Vazquez was wanted for second-degree assault in the murder of Edward Varejcka.
Vazquez is believed to be armed. Residents are asked to shelter in place.
