KGFW Sports – NU Walk-on Added, A Bowl Projection and High School Update 9/28/20

By News Sep 28, 2020 | 6:09 AM

Nebraska has begun making walk-on offers, and on Saturday extended a walk-on offer to Elkhorn running back Aiden Young. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound Young holds scholarship offers from Wayne State, Pittsburg State, Harding University, University of Mary, South Dakota Mines and Bemidji State. He has also received interest from Wyoming, Iowa State, South Dakota and South Dakota State.

Despite the fact that the Big Ten season is still a month away, the Huskers are already being included in bowl projections. Nebraska showed up in CBSSports’ bowl projections for the first time this week, with Jerry Palm projecting Nebraska to the First Responder Bowl as an at-large team. Palm has the Huskers matched up in his projections with former Big 12 foe Texas Tech. The First Responder Bowl is slated to be held Dec. 30th in Dallas. The game is played on the campus of SMU and features a Big 12 team paired up against an at-large team.

The Mid-American Conference, the first FBS league to call off fall football, became the final one to reinstate it Friday, announcing a six-game slate starting Nov. 4th.

The Hastings College football team dropped a second straight game, falling to Doane University 52-37 Saturday afternoon at Lloyd Wilson Field. Now 1-2 on the season, this Saturday the Broncos travel to Sioux City, Iowa for a game against Morningside. The Hastings College volleyball team is off until Saturday when they host Kansas Wesleyan.

The Creighton men’s basketball team received a commitment from 2021 recruit John Christofilis Friday. The 6-foot-4 guard from Seattle is a three-star recruit and had scholarship offers from Washington, Washington State and Oregon State. He’s the second known member of the Jay’s 2021 recruiting class, joining four-star point guard Ryan Nembhard from Florida. The Bluejays still have two open scholarships for the 2021 recruiting class.
