Husker defensive lineman Ben Stille is one of 199 semifinalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy. That award is presented annually by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame and recognizes an individual as the top football scholar-athlete in the nation. Stille is looking to become the Huskers’ third Campbell Trophy Award winner, joining Rob Zatechka (1994) and Kyle Vanden Bosch (2000). Nebraska is one seven programs nationally to have multiple Campbell Trophy winners.

The Nebraska Athletic Department is offering Husker fans a chance to fill Memorial Stadium virtually and collect commemorative items related to the 2020 season. The Sea of Red campaign gives fans multiple options to participate virtually. Package options range from $25 to $1,000. All proceeds from the season-long campaign will support Husker student-athletes.

Former Husker All-American linebacker Lavonte David has been named the NFC defensive player of the month. The All-Pro posted 24 tackles in three September games with two tackles for loss, one interception, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and two passes defended. This is the first player of the month honor of his career.

Former Husker cornerback Lamar Jackson has been elevated from the Jets’ practice squad to the active roster.

The Tri-City Storm have hired Shawn Sramek as an Assistant Coach. The 26yr old Sramek joins the Storm organization after serving as an Assistant Coach for the Corpus Christi IceRays (NAHL). The Storm will open the season on the road with a game against the Des Moines Buccaneers on Friday, November 6th. The Storm will host the Lincoln Stars in their home opener at the Viaero Center on Saturday, November 14th.
