KGFW Sports – NU Falls at OU, Storm 4-0 and High School Update 10/26/20

The Nebraska football team opened the season with a 52-17 loss at nationally ranked Ohio State Saturday. The Huskers host Wisconsin this Saturday at 2:30. The nationally ranked Badgers crushed Illinois 45-7 Friday in Madison.

Other notes from Saturday:

Nebraska generated 377 yards of total offense, including 217 rushing yards and 160 passing yards.

QB’s Adrian Martinez and Luke McCaffrey combined for 164 yards on the ground. McCaffrey led the Husker rushing attack with 87 yards on nine carries, Martinez finished with 77 rushing yards on 12 carries.

Martinez completed 12-of-15 passes for 105 yards, while McCaffrey completed 4-of-5 passes for 55 yards. Wan’Dale Robinson was their top target, hauling in six receptions for 49 yards.

Will Honas, Marquel Dismuke and Collin Miller each recorded seven tackles to lead the Husker defense.

Defensive backs Cam Taylor-Britt and Deontai Willaims were ejected in the second half for targeting calls, and will now miss the first half of the Wisconsin game.

Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz has reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus and is awaiting a second test.

The Hastings College football suffered their 5th straight loss Saturday, falling to Briar Cliff at home 27-18. The Broncos are on the road this Saturday, traveling to North Dakota for a game against the University of Jamestown. The Hastings College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at home, falling to Dakota Wesleyan in five Friday, and losing to the University of Jamestown in four Saturday. The Lady Broncos are on the road tomorrow night with a match against Doane in Crete.

The Tri-City Storm defeated the Omaha Lancers in overtime on Sunday to clinch the 2020 Corn Cup. Guillaume Richard scored the overtime game-winning goal to give the Storm the 3-2 win. Now 4-0 in exhibition play the Storm return to action on Thursday with a road game against the Omaha Lancers.
