City of Kearney will consider mask mandate at special meeting Tuesday

KEARNEY, Neb. (KGFW) – A special Kearney City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday evening following a meeting by the City’s Board of Health.

The lone agenda item: “Conduct a public hearing for consideration of the immediate issuance of an emergency ordinance to require individuals to wear facial coverings in the City of Kearney, provide exceptions thereof, provide for the enforcement for violations, and to establish a sunset provision and adopt Emergency Ordinance No. 8457.”

There is also only one item of the Board of Health agenda: Discuss and make a recommendation to the Kearney City Council on the possible issuance of an emergency ordinance to require individuals to wear facial coverings in the City of Kearney.

The City of Kearney Board of Health is scheduled to meet at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 17. The special City Council meeting will follow at 5:30 p.m.
