KGFW Sports – Updates… but nothing about Tom Brady!

The Nebraska women’s basketball team fell at Rutgers yesterday, 78-62. The Husker women host the Iowa Hawkeyes Wednesday at Pinnacle Bank Arena, tipoff will be at 7:00.

The Husker men fell at Michigan State Saturday, 56-66. This was their first game since Jan. 10th, and their first road game since Dec. 30th. The Husker men are back in action tonight with a game at Minnesota. Tipoff is at 7:00.

The 4th ranked Nebraska volleyball team took two from Maryland this past weekend at the Devaney. The Huskers topped the Terps in four Friday, and swept them Saturday. Up next for the 4-and-0 Huskers… a trip to Piscataway, New Jersey for a pair of matches against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

The 7th ranked Nebraska wrestling team earned their first road wins of the season on Saturday, defeating Indiana, 47-0, and Michigan State, 27-10, in Bloomington. The Huskers close out the regular season Sunday, Feb. 21st at Illinois.

The Big Ten released revised 2021 football schedules Friday. The opponents on the Huskers’ schedule haven’t change, but they did get shuffled around. One big change… Nebraska will now host Iowa, not Minnesota, on Black Friday Nov. 26th.

The 15th ranked Creighton Bluejays defeated Marquette Saturday in Milwaukee, 71-68. The Jays travel to Washington D.C. tomorrow for a rematch with Georgetown. The Hoyas topped Creighton in Omaha last week, 86-79.

The 19th ranked Creighton volleyball team split their two matches with 25th ranked Marquette this past weekend in Omaha. The same two teams will close out a four match series this weekend in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Tri-City Storm split their two games with Sioux Falls this past weekend in South Dakota, winning 5-4 in overtime Friday but falling Saturday 5-3. The Storm continue a five game road swing this week in Iowa, facing Des Moines Friday, and Waterloo Saturday and Sunday.

The UNK basketball teams defeated the Newman Jets Saturday at the Health and Sports Center. The Loper men topped the Jets 70-65, while the 12th ranked Loper women won 60-40. The Loper basketball teams are in Oklahoma this week for games against Northeastern State and Rogers State.

The UNK softball team opened their season with a 1-3 start at the Lubbock (Texas) Christian Invitational this past weekend. The Lopers are scheduled to play four games in Oklahoma City/Edmond, Okla., this weekend but cold temperatures may alter that tournament schedule.

The UNK track and field team won five events at the Bearcat Invitational in Maryville, Missouri. The Lopers travel to Topeka Saturday for the Washburn Ichabod Invite.

The Nebraska Shrine Bowl rosters were announced Saturday. The South roster includes Kearney High’s Jack Johnson and Gabe VanWinkle, and Kearney Catholic’s Cale Conrad and Logan O’Brien. The 63rd Nebraska Shrine Bowl will be played Saturday, June 5th at UNK’s Ron and Carol Cope Stadium.
