KGFW Sports – Huskers vs. Hawkeyes, WNIT and High School Results

The 5th ranked Nebraska volleyball team will be hosting the Iowa Hawkeyes tomorrow night. The Huskers swept the Hawkeyes Wednesday in Iowa City. It was their eighth sweep in 13 matches this season. First serve at the Bob Devaney Sports Center is set for tomorrow night at 6:00.

The 32-team Postseason WNIT tips off today. The Husker women will face UT Martin at the eight-team Memphis Regional this morning at 11:00. Creighton’s opening round opponent is Bowling Green. The two teams will meet this afternoon at 2:00 in Rockford, Illinois. The four regional champions will advance to the Memphis site, with the semifinals tipping off March 26th and the championship game set for March 28th.

The 19th ranked Creighton Bluejays begin NCAA Tournament play Saturday at 2:30, taking on Big West champion UC Santa Barbara. Creighton is 1-1 all-time against UC Santa Barbara. Saturday’s winner will face either fourth-seeded Virginia and 13th-seeded Ohio on Monday. The entire 2021 NCAA Tournament will be held in the greater Indianapolis area.

The Nebraska baseball team is in Iowa City this weekend for a three game series with the Hawkeyes. The two teams are playing five games in nine days after splitting a pair of last weekend at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. Game one of the series is set to begin this afternoon at 4:00.

The 12th ranked UNK volleyball team closed a three match homestand last night with a sweep of Fort Hays State, winning 25-22, 25-14, 25-11. It’s the fourth straight win for the Lopers, who are now off until next weekend when they travel to Topeka, Kansas for matches against Missouri Southern and Central Missouri.

The Tri-City Storm defeated the Waterloo Black Hawks 5-3 last night at the Viaero Center. The Storm will host Sioux Falls tonight and tomorrow night.

A trio of Tri-City Storm forwards have been named to the roster for the 2021 BioSteel All-American game. Matthew Knies, Hunter Strand, and Carter Mazur have all been named to the roster comprised of American-born players competing this season in the USHL. The team will battle the United States National Team Development Program’s Under 18 team. The 2021 BioSteel All-American Game will be held on April 7th in Plymouth, Michigan. The 2021 NHL Draft is scheduled for July 23rd-July 24th.
