Season ends for Huskers after WNIT loss

By News Mar 20, 2021 | 8:21 PM

Just a day after notching the first postseason win since 2014, the Nebraska women’s basketball season came to an end.

The Huskers (13-13, 9-10 Big Ten) came up just short of a double-digit comeback Saturday, falling 75-71 to Colorado (12-10, 8-8 Pac-12) in the Round of 16 at the WNIT.

Nebraska shot 40.7 percent for the game, including 7-of-27 from 3.

Sam Haiby led the Huskers with 20 points and was second on the team with six rebounds.

A balanced scoring effort saw Bella Cravens, Isabelle Bourne, and Kate Cain each score 10 points while Annika Stewart added 11. Cravens reeled in a team-high eight rebounds.

The end of the season means players will begin announcing their intentions for next season. The NCAA has ruled an extra year of eligibility for every player, meaning seniors are allowed to return and not count against the scholarship count.

Nebraska has only one such player that will decide whether or not to return for that extra season in senior center Cain.
