Nebraska's COVID positivity rate has risen

By News Apr 6, 2021 | 7:59 AM

LINCOLN, Neb. (KGFW) – Nebraska’s COVID positivity rate has risen above 5% for the first time in nine weeks (5.7%) — and the number of COVID hospital patients also increased for the first time in 19 weeks, last week. 132 patients reported yesterday, accounting for 3.2% of statewide capacity. 2,181 have died.

All ages are now eligible to register for a COVID vaccine. However, state officials said yesterday that they’re still working to overcome “vaccination hesitancy,” notably among some minorities. Hispanics are now contracting COVID-19 and being hospitalized at greater rates than the general population.

25.1% of those 16 and up have now completed vaccination. About 950,000 doses have been administered. A link to the state’s registration website can be found on our coronavirus information page at KGFW.com.
